“How much per vehicle?” is the first question every fleet manager asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on what’s in the engine. A compact car and a diesel box truck can differ several times over in oil capacity alone. Here’s what actually moves the price, and how to compare quotes fairly.
What drives the price per vehicle
- Oil capacity. A car might take 5 quarts. A medium-duty diesel can take several times that. More oil, higher cost.
- Oil type. Full synthetic and diesel-spec oils cost more than conventional. Your manufacturer’s spec decides this, not the provider.
- Filter. Some vehicles use cartridge filters or more than one filter.
- How many vehicles per visit. The trip is a fixed cost. Ten vans in one stop spreads it out far better than one van at a time.
- Timing. Standing, recurring schedules are easier to plan than one-off rush calls.
- What’s included. Fluid top-offs, tire pressure checks, and a written inspection add value. Make sure you’re comparing the same scope.
The real number: cost plus downtime
A shop’s oil change can look cheaper on the invoice. But add the driver’s time to take the vehicle in and bring it back, and the hours that vehicle isn’t on a route or a job. For a fleet, that hidden cost often matters more than the difference in the invoice. When you compare, compare the whole thing.
Are there plans for larger fleets?
Most mobile providers, us included, will build a plan around your fleet instead of charging one-off prices: a set schedule, a per-vehicle rate by vehicle type, and add-ons like tire rotations bundled into the same visit. The more predictable the schedule, the easier it is to keep the price predictable too.

Say you need on-site oil service for ten delivery vans. Send this and you’ll get a real number instead of a guess:
- Year, make, model, and engine for each vehicle (or just the VINs)
- Current mileage, or when each was last serviced
- Where they’re parked and when they’re free
- How often you want service (one time, or every few months)
